The world is big, but you don`t have to look further than the ground you are standing on to discover lots of interesting, fun, and sometimes mysterious things.
I like to look around and see the whole world around me, but maybe more often I tend to look at what’s close to me, that’s why the arrival of my two tiny friends was a lucky day for me. I suddenly had an excuse to show you the world from a different angle. My angle.
Several years ago I was doodling a random doodle as I sometimes do. When I finished it, I suddenly saw a little creature in my clutter of lines, it was my first drawing of Heffanutt. I didn`t know his name or anything else about him by then and the doodle rested in my drawer for a long time. One day in 2018 I was doodling again, and Ant King came to life. I knew who he was almost immediately, and what’s more, I remembered the doodle resting in my drawer and Heffanutt suddenly came to life too. He must have been waiting for Ant King’s arrival, too shy to talk to me alone.
I`m a grown-up woman, but I prefer to be called a girl which I feel is more “me”. I guess it`s the child talking. Some may say I shouldn`t imagine so much as an adult, but I can`t help it, the child has always been inside of me all my life and I do have an imaginative mind. More than twenty years ago I came up with a saying “you`re not an adult until you dare to be childlike”. I have followed my saying and will continue to do so, and let my inner child come out every now and then, and let my imaginary tiny creatures live on this blog.
This blog has a double meaning to me, besides having fun, it also has a much deeper meaning which also has a connection to my name Bird; It`s about finding your wings, stretching them and make them stronger by flying short distances – and then one day…. fly. In other words, finding -if you don’t know-, what makes you you, who you are, and finding the strength to be who you are, and then fly high with the wind, fly free…. be you.
