They are invited to a party nearby, Ant King has taken his cane out of the closet, and Heffanutt is wearing a tie.
The boys get a big suprise when entering the stable to tack up the pony. There the pony is, shining from thouroughly brushing – not done by Ant King or Heffanutt – looking better than ever. His mane is plattet in a beautiful braid and a red bow is tied to the end of it. It is the work of a happy well fed nisse. When a nisse is respected and well taken care of he will take care of both you and your animals, bringing luck and happiness to the houshold.
I had to look up “nisse”! I just learning more about Norwegian culture via your tales! 💕

Yes nisse is a very interesting creature and a very old one, dating back to when people started farming. When I was little my grandad dressed up as a nisse and not Santa Claus. 💕
