One winter morning Ant King woke up, it was still dark in the room. He was sure the sunrise should have started by now – strange. He lit a candle and tried to look out the window, nothing to see but a wall of snow. It had snowed so much that night that it covered all the windows
In the meantime, Heffanutt was already up, ready for a morning walk. The walk was canceled as soon as he opened the door, there was no way he could get out.
After breakfast, they started to dig a tunnel, Ant King put the snow in a bucket
… and Heffanutt emptied it in the bathtub.
After several hours of digging, Ant King finally peeped out of a hole. It had stopped snowing and the sun was shining. There was nothing to see, but snow, everything but the biggest trees in the forest was covered.
Later that day, Heffanutt made dinner, but no Ant King turned up. Heffanutt went to find him. As soon as he entered the new hallway he saw an entrance that wasn’t there before,
Ant King had built not one but two new rooms in the snow, one living room and a game room. The living room furniture was made out of snow too, and he had lit the room with lots of candles. In the game room, they could play dart with snowballs, or bowling.
Ant King and Heffanutt enjoyed their new and enlarged house every day until spring.
